• 3 foam monitors-tank skids placed on the helideck balconies. Each skid will be equipped with a foam self-oscillating monitor (1000l/min minimum flow rate and 1.5 D minimum throw range). Dedicated Foam Concentrate Tanks (minimum capacity to be selected according to water / foam mixing ratio but not less than 600 L AFFF concentrate) to be connected to the monitor nozzle to mix foam concentrate with water fed from firewater network. Each self-oscillating monitor will be equipped with manual push-button for manual activation.
• At least 2 dry powder extinguishers having a total capacity of not less than 45 kg shall be provided and stored near to the means of access to that deck.
• Carbon Dioxide extinguishers of a total capacity of not less than 18 kg or equivalent, one of these extinguishers being so equipped as to enable it to reach the engine area of any helicopter using the deck.
• 2 foam hose reels (250 L/m flow rate, 30 m length, 1.5’’ diameter) will be provided on Helideck balconies.
Regardless of the type of the fire, the design of the protection system of the Helideck is based on the concept of rapid detection, elimination of the fuel source and automatic and manual extinguishing.
Foam Concentrate Tanks will be connected with the monitors through hydro-foam nozzles that will mix and efficiently proportion the foam with the water fed by the fixed Firewater System
6.2 TOTAL SATURATION FIREFIGHTING SYSTEM
Total Saturation Firefighting Systems (HFC 227EA type trademark FM 200) have been provided on NA/Q-PIII Platform to protect:
• Electrical Technical Room.
• Emergency Electrical and Instrument Control Room.
• Battery Room.
• Gas Generators enclosures (one for each enclosure).
• Emergency Diesel Generator enclosure.
Total Saturation Firefighting Systems have been designed, installed and tested according to Standard NFPA 2001.
Spare clean agent cylinders (100% redundant) have been provided and installed in rack adjacent to the main ones for easy and quick replace.
Each skid is designed to give easy access for manual emergency actuation, personnel replacing discharged cylinders, maintenance and servicing purposes and adequate natural ventilation.
6.3 WATER / FOAM FIREFIGHTING SYSTEM
A Water/Foam Firefighting System has been installed on NA/Q-PIII Platform in order to provide the adequate amount of extinguishing mean to fixed and manual means in case of fire
