I'm writing to announce that the Week 1 readings and video lectures are now available and can be accessed from within the "Modules" tab. This week we will reflect about why capacity building matters, and talk about some of the common barriers to capacity building and how to overcome them. In taking this course, you are electing to run your organization's capacity assessment using the Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT), which I introduce in the introductory lecture video. Get ready to be a champion for change at your organization! If you are not currently part of an organization, don't worry! We will have alternative options for each assignments.
Course Timeline
After this first week, all of the content for an upcoming module will be made available to you at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Monday of each week, and you may complete the readings and watch the lecture videos at your own pace--there is no specific time at which you need to be logged in. Here is a time zone converter for the majority of learners who are in other time zones.
Teams
We strongly believe that team collaboration significantly improves learner engagement and commitment in an online course. Therefore, starting in Week 2, you will submit all of your assignments with your team. More information about joining or forming teams can be found in Step 4 of Week 1, where we've included a "team formation" assignment. After reviewing the team formation assignment instructions, if you still have questions about team formation, please refer to the Team Formation Guide.
Collaboration Guidelines
In this course we're working hard to establish a nonjudgmental space that embraces the diversity of experiences and perspectives of its learners. This applies to the way that you communicate and collaborate together on discussion threads and in team workspaces. Please review the Collaborative Guidelines in the course syllabus.
Need Help?
Ask your teammates or post the question in the "Technical Issues" discussion thread. You are crucial resources for each other, and chances are someone else has wondered about the same thing. Our Teaching Assistant, Lisa Brefini, will also be monitoring and responding to questions as needed.
See if you can find the answer at NovoEd Help.
Best wishes for a successful first week!
Thanks,
Doug
