WASH/Shelter Core Competency (CC) Coordinator - Aden ( National Position) - Yemen
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
The WASH/Shelter Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the WASH/Shelter CC projects within Yemen covering all the programme areas of NRC Yemen. The position will report to the Area Manager and relevant support staff.
Job description
Coordinate and implement the WASH/Shelter projects according to strategy, proposals and plans.
Review and analyze drawings and BOQs and provide technical support to WASH/Shelter engineers .
Assist managers/specialists in writing project proposals.
Develop proposals for the maintenance and expansion of the WASH/Shelter projects.
Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements.
Develop annual activity and work plans.
Training and development of WASH/Shelter staff.
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the project activities.
Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities.
Organize trainings for the WASH/Shelter teams, relevant partners and beneficiaries.
Produce timely quality project reports according to donor requirements and NRC M&E guidelines.
Ensure proper filing of all project documents.
Represent NRC in the WASH/Shelter Clusters and other Shelter -related meetings in the field.
Liaise with the authorities and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the program.
Manage and monitor projects finance and budgets. Maintain strong control on budgets, ensuring spending within available resources and in compliance with donor and NRC grant management guidelines.
Qualifications
University degree in Civil/Water/Environmental engineering .
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience on shelter projects management with any reputable International NGO.
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
Knowledge about own manager skills/profile .
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Computer skills, MS Office.
Knowledge of AUTOCAD/WaterCAD/ArchCAD etc.

College / University, Bachelor's degree
