What's the Strategy?
The strategy suggested in the Path-Finder is a simple one. Once you
have selected your topic, refer to a source that provides you with a
general overview of the topic such as an encyclopedia. An article in a
general reference work will help you focus your topic. Once you have
picked up a more specific aspect of the topic, move on to sources that
are more specialized including books, periodicals, audio-visual materials
and CD-Roms.
What's the Next Step?
Locate your library materials and keep a list of the books, articles and
other sources that seem useful for your paper. Such a list is called a
"working bibliography."
