cybersecurity alert – malware stealing money
Dear users,
A new technique is being used by hackers to steal financial information. They use malware to spoof the user interfaces of downloaded applications, such as WhatsApp, Google Play, YouTube, and other messaging applications.
This malware has spread across multiple countries, through traditional phishing emails and short messaging service (SMS) techniques. Once this malware is downloaded, it will create fake user interfaces for different applications on the phone. The interface will ask for missing information and send the entered information to the hacker.
To protect yourself and the company from potentially malicious attacks, please remember the following:
• If you receive an SMS, Email or message through an instant messaging application, for instance “Your order could not be delivered, please check your shipping information here” please do not click.
• Do not forward suspicious emails to your family and colleagues.
• When you receive suspicious email through corporate or personal email, report it immediately by clicking on the “Report-as-Spam” add-in located on your desktop Outlook menu, or forward the email to Spam@aramco.com for mobile users.
Remember, information security is everyone’s responsibility.
