JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLECoordinator Health and SafetyREPORTING TOSenior Coordinator VenueLOCATIONAbu Dhabi, UAE ROLE STATEMENTThe aim of the role of Coordinator Health and Safety is to plan, prepare and coordinate all activities relating to Health and Safety at the event. The role includes being the first point of call in all matters relating to health and safety at the event. The role would also be expected to take a broader view of the health, safety and welfare of all WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 staff members. PRINCIPLE TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Coordinator Health and Safety will work particularly closely with the venue (ADNEC), other members of the Technical and Operations department and colleagues within WorldSkills International. It is essential that good relationships are made across these areas to ensure that all activities pertaining to the venue hosting WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 are successfully delivered.The successful applicant will have significant experience of Health and Safety management and be skilled in its implementation at large events. Prior experience of WorldSkills and/or large scale events would be very beneficial. Candidates should be flexible enough to work in changing environments and would come with a ‘hands on’ approach to getting the job done. Being able to function in a multi-cultural working environment is a must. The principle tasks and responsibilities of the role are as follows:To build and maintain an excellent working relationship with relevant members of the venue management team. Ensuring all Health and Safety specific requirements are delivered in accordance with that requested and agreed between all parties. 1. Management of Occupational Health and Safety including (but not exclusively):a. establish Occupational Health and Safety regulations;b. establish event related safety guidelines specific to each skill area (PPE, machine safety, chemical substances, electrical safety, housekeeping, etc.);c. ensure first aid services, equipment and supplies are available in the skill areas; andd. oversee all equipment installations, ensuring compliance with all requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety code relating to the design, construction, erection and installation of that equipment. 2. Management of Public Event Health and Safety including (but not exclusively):a. prepare Risk Assessments for each of the skill areas;b. create Safety Procedures and Evacuation Plans;c. create safety checklists;d. devise and manage a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences on site;e. control of onsite activities through on the ground monitoring. WSAD2017_T_Coordinator_Health_and_Safety Version: 2.1 Date: 12.05.15 4 of 7 3. Contribute towards effective liaison with the following:a. Police Serviceb. Fire Servicec. Emergency Medical Serviced. ADNEC Security and Health and Safetye. Other relevant Agencies that may be identified 4. Effectively manage the collation, monitoring and audit of all contractor Health and Safety documentation(including insurances) and including ADNEC in-house services. 5. Manage activities/tasks in accordance with the agreed project plan to ensure delivery on time and to budget. 6. Recruit, manage, support and motivate allocated staff to successfully deliver activities/tasks. This is notlimited to core staff but reflects wider event team. 7. Contribute to the management of event security/visitor management for the event. This includes but is notlimited to;a. Selection of external partner/liaison with in-house venue securityb. Development of venue security management planc. Compiling security/emergency process document with venue and internal team 8. In conjunction with all members of the Technical team input to the planning and implementation of asuccessful running order for the build stage through to the live event and on to the final elements ofbreakdown for all aspects of event delivery at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. Ensure all suppliers/contractors are aware of the various elements and deliver their services on time. It is important to note that the above is not an exhaustive list and it is very likely that adjustments to the tasks and responsibilities of the Coordinator Health and Safety will be made from time to time.
