Transmission and Distribution Construction Supervisor

Emera Newfoundland & Labrador (ENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Emera Inc. (EMA- TXS), is responsible for designing, engineering, constructing, operating and maintaining the 500-megawatt Maritime Link Project. The Maritime Link Project will transmit energy from the island of Newfoundland to Nova Scotia. With office locations in both provinces, ENL is committed to ensuring that the Maritime Link Project transmits clean, renewable energy for Nova Scotia.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Transmission and Distribution Construction Supervisor is responsible for the safe execution of construction work for the Maritime Link transmission lines, converter systems, and related infrastructure at the ENL worksites for the onshore components of the Maritime Link Project. Principal activities, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support ENL's goal of zero Safety, Health or Environmental incidents relating to the substation and construction activities
Complete daily and weekly reports
Monitor transmission site activities and review work plans and procedures
Review work areas to identify process and procedure improvements
Ensure that operations are efficient and service both the internal and external customers
Assist with interfacing between work scopes
Ensure that all contractor safety and environmental certifications, permits, and related requirements are in place and followed
Work with contractors to review upcoming schedule and to facilitate construction activities, and ensure co-ordination between construction groups
Ensure all Company policies and procedures are understood and observed
Monitor, evaluate and report on contractor safety performance, environmental plan compliance, and quality control
Oversee and assure that all site activities are performed as per contractual agreements
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience
Our ideal candidate must have a technical diploma with a minimum of 5 years’ experience from a transmission line construction project or an electrical utility, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role. Experience from a remote construction area is considered an asset.
You must be proficient with MS Office, possess strong technical skills, and are quick to learn new software. You are detailed oriented, have the ability to work within tight deadlines and can handle multiple priorities at one time. You must be able to communicate effectively, and work independently as well as in a team environment. You must be highly organized, adaptable to change and remain focused under pressure.
You have working knowledge of applicable policies, rules regulations and codes in the Construction and Utility industry.
This is a field based position. Due to the large geographic region of this Project, frequent travel to various worksites may be required. You will be required to work in remote sites, in all weather conditions.
A valid drivers’ license is required.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
