Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Centres and Pools you will be responsible for maintaining all mechanical and housekeeping components of the facility and pool. You must ensure the facility operates in a safe and effective manner and in accordance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority. You will also be required to perform the following pool operations: water testing, backwashing, chemical balancing and the operating, troubleshooting and maintaining of the filtration and sanitization systems. Additional duties include: general cleaning of the pool deck and change rooms, salting and snow removal of entrance areas (when required), program set-ups and take-downs, following preventive maintenance checklists and conducting monthly Health and Safety and applicable Life Safety System inspections and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: You have completed a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of mechanical, pool and facility maintenance experience. You are also a team player with good communication and customer service skills. Possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and access to a vehicle for use on corporate business are essential (mileage compensated); you will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance. Current Standard First Aid/CPR and AED Certificates along with a current Certified Pool Operator’s Certificate is required. Knowledge in the operation of Ultra Violet Light Systems and completion of the ORFA Building Maintenance and Operations Course would be considered an asset. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check within one month of hire. The successful candidate must be able to work various evening, night and weekend shifts as required. This position is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E). Note: Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of this selection process.
