A transferee supervisor is allowed to review the prospective transferring employee’s personnel file as part of the reference checking process. This includes, but is not limited to, the employee’s three most recent annual performance appraisals, all active disciplinary actions, the date and type of each previously-issued disciplinary suspension or demotion, and documents related to any dismissal from previous employment, including all disciplinary actions active at the time of a dismissal. The transferee supervisor may factor this information into their final hiring decision.
