There is an opening for a Credit Review Manager who will be part of a team of credit review specialists who are responsible for the development and implementation of the CRRI framework. The CRRI team assess the level of credit risk, evaluate the quality of risk management, and determine the aggregate level and direction of risk of the bank’s credit activities, through onsite reviews and evaluating the overall adequacy and effectiveness of credit risk management.
Main Job Functions
• Participate in and lead onsite Credit Reviews including documenting conclusions for each review conducted /supported in a formal report to management and ensuring reports accurately reflect review findings documented in review working papers
• Grade the materiality of review findings and identify root causes for all observations / issues raised
• Ensure documented related risks, conclusions and recommendations are factual, reasonable and balanced and all review reports are concise and produced in a timely manner
• Assist and improve the follow-up, tracking and reporting of review issues
• Pro-actively identify new / emerging areas of credit risk across SABB
• Build strong working relationships with Regional Risk, and Regional Business teams as well as risk management, special asset management and operational functions.
• Manage development, design and execution of review scope for assigned segments and recommend related overall review plan coverage
• Maintains current knowledge of business, organizational, review and technological changes as well as pertinent internal and regulatory policy and procedural requirements to ensure review integrity, process innovation and service quality
• The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology
Experience and Qualification
• Substantial experience in banking, working within Commercial banking and/or Credit Risk functions
• Prior experience working in Audit would be an advantage.
• Strong academic record i.e. bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance with a formal accountancy or audit qualification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Broad knowledge of the HSBC Group and / or Trade, commercial banking and global banking lending in one or more regions including understanding the regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of Basel principles and how they are applied to corporate credit risk
