I don't understand the fantastic reviews.
Generally, i found the plot slow moving and cliche. You have read or seen things just like this a thousand times over, especially that ending. I found the writing style hard to slog through but the author does have a great talent for description and I still don't really understand why the boy was kidnapped in the first place? I also felt like there was just a lot of unnecessary filler like did I need deep characterization of all the main characters friends? No I didn't, they weren't relevant to the story, this time could have been spent on building up more motive, backstory, emotion etc etc.
I think this book would have been better if it was told from the viewpoint of the adults honestly , there's a lot we don't know cause we see it through the eyes of a child and maybe that was the point but i didn't like it at all
