The WASH engineer is in charge of facilitating the reduction of the health risks to people affected by emergency / disaster conditions by providing or rehabilitating water and sanitation systems and promoting good hygiene practices. 
• Assess water and sanitation needs, available resources and the capacity of existing systems for the communities living in collective shelters; 
• Review and provide inputs to water and sanitation designs for collective shelters;
• Carry out technical supervision of the design activities and construction works;
• Consult with community representatives (including women) about access, design and management of water systems and sanitation facilities, as well as hygiene promotion needs;
• Develop hygiene promotion / education materials for staff training and for PoC living in collective shelters;
• Design and implement sanitation systems for household and/or communal toilets, household liquid and solid wastes including drainage;
• Assess condition, set up maintenance systems and train PoC living in collective shelters on how to conduct basic maintenance;
• Liaise with other agencies to ensure coordination and works suitability;
• Consultant maybe required undertaking additional roles for other projects in the same or different geographical areas, and other duties as required.
