While moving through the stages of the scientific research process, you will soon learn that in scientific inquiry, the more you know, the more you know you don't know. That is, as you gain more insight to a problem, you usually come out with more questions than you do answers. It is even pos-sible that you do not answer the question you started out to answer but another question entirely. And for most STEM professionals, the emergence of new questions is celebrated, not frowned on. However, take heart. It is likely that your teacher, who is overseeing your research project, wants to help you develop a research study that is not too messy. So, as you get feedback from your teacher about possible modifications to your research design (see Chapter 2), it probably is in your best interest to consider them. Chapter 1
