Moreover, most research on holiday decision-making
considers families or couples as the unit of analysis (Nichols
& Snepenger, 1988; Kozak, 2010; Oppewal et al., 2015), and
not much of the existing literature refers to holiday travel
decision-making of individual solo travellers. These investigations
suggest that family members are usually keen on
having a shared holiday and that joint decision-making has
been the most dominant type of family vacation-related
motivations and decisions (Nichols & Snepenger, 1988;
Kang & Hsu, 2005; Kozak, 2010). Thornton et al. (1997)
conclude that children are also influential in affecting family
decision-making.
