My heart is heavy
My heart is overwhelmed
within me
You have occupied
all the layers of my soul
and my mouth is
sealed with a stitch
But I want to scream
words of love
And I want to scream them
loudly
Loudly,
at the top of my lungs,
in the middle of a rain forest
So loudly
that the spider monkeys,
nesting in the trees
wake up irritated
Extremely irritated
that they decide to go on a rampage
And I want to stand there
still,
like the last gladiator in the Roman arena
The monkeys would bite, sinking their teeth into my flesh,
and I would sing
louder,
and louder,
till the sun
that poorly penetrates to ground level
weeps
at the sight of my closing eyes,
and rays of sunlight
pour
timidly through the fern leaves
like the fourth day of Earth's Genesis
And the monkeys
frighteningly amused by their troubled shadows
will tenderly
release
my bleeding skin,
And I will solemnly
howl
'I Love You'
again
and again
