Coping Pattern II responses ranged from 10–51 representing minimally to moderately helpful. Parents rated Coping Pattern II behaviors as minimally helpful (M = 30.76, SD =± 8.50). The Coping Pattern II item score mean of 1.71 denoted minimally helpful coping behaviors. An
independent samples t test, t(37.31) = 3.45, p = .001 showed that mothers’ Coping Pattern II behaviors (M = 32.74, SD = 7.23) were more helpful than fathers’ Coping Pattern II behaviors (M = 25.70, SD = 8.48).
