The body is then taken to the incineration site and cremated as soon as possible. Bodies are never transported overnight as there is a risk of receiving negative influences from energies or elemental spirits. Before cremation and in the days following it, during rituals, offerings of croquettes of wheat and water, pia, are made to the dead. After cremation, croquettes are also offered to remains of bones that were not completely consumed by fire.
