PURPOSE OF DIVISION:
The WASH department works with country program team in identifying, planning, implementing and evaluating of WASH projects/programs in collaboration with local, national and international partners, The aim of WASH department is to improve the health and socioeconomic well-being of conflict affected communities by reducing the incidence of water- and sanitation-related diseases through sustainable safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of WASH Coordinator, M&E Assistant will be providing support in monitoring and evaluating WASH projects on WASH in health facilities and communities, incumbent will be responsible for monitoring, evaluation and learning needs of the project and will come up with findings based on the real data to show performance of the projects, the incumbent will also help IRY in strengthening its M&E functions based on his/her experiences from the projects, the incumbent will play role in promotion of key learning's for the improvement of the projects and for wider learning of the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Main duties and Responsibilities.
Conduct project sites visits to provide hands-on support to field staff on how to capture and organize the information for accurate documentation and reporting.
Regular data collection and ensure quality by verification and validation.
Analyze and discuss finding based on regular monitoring data.
Record, manage and preserve monitoring and evaluation data in a safe and accessible way.
Provide technical on M and E and evidence based recommendation to the relevant project Manager.
Ensure that implementation of field activities adhere to Islamic Relief's monitoring and evaluation system.
Participate actively in program planning process and budgeting of the programme quality.
Specific duties and responsibilities.
Monitoring:
Develop project monitoring plan of the projects in line with project LFA and consulting with programme team.
Coordinate with implementing staff, health staff, community/health volunteers and collect data against agreed indicators.
Evaluation:
Assist project manager in designing, coordinating, and conducting project evaluations( mid-term and end-line)
Assist project manager in designing and conducting post Implementation and Monitoring Surveys.
Learning and Sharing:
Share learning from M&E process with the wider team.
Promote culture of two way learning in the organization.
Contribute to Effectiveness of the programme
Work Collaboratively with different programmes for strengthening integration and cross- learning in the programmes.
Reporting
Assist Project Manager in developing quarterly , six monthly and annual reports.
Develop and share field visit reports with relevant staff.
Integration, Coordination of Cross-cutting Aspects:
Develop and maintain statistical systems and project monitoring systems that provide gender-disaggregated data.
Ensure that gender equity is addressed in all trainings and staff development initiatives
Ensure the integration of gender, child protection, HIV, people living with disability, environment and other crosscutting issues to the design, and the activities take into account the needs of the specific groups and individual, especially children, the elderly disabled.
Person Specification
A) QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in social and natural sciences discipline.
B) EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Required
Professional experience of 3 years minimum, among which 1 year in monitoring and evaluation of WASH projects.
knowledge of WASH issues challenges and opportunities.
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power point)
Good report writing skills in English.
Data collection and management
Analytical and search skills.
Time management and ability to priorities multiple tasks
Self motivated person able to work without close supervision.
Fluent knowledge of local language
Fluent knowledge of written and oral in English
Desirable
Direct experience in the geographical area targeted by Islamic Relief
Experience working with INGO/NGO
