COMPOSITION
MEGENTAL® Menarini
Injection “10”: Gentamycin (as gentamycin sul- phate) 10mg.
Injection “40”: Gentamycin (as gentamycin sul- phate) 40mg.
Injection “80”: Gentamycin (as gentamycin sul- phate) 80mg.
INDICATIONS
Gentamycin is indicated in the treatment of infec- tions caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective in the treatment of acute and chronic infec- tions of the urinary tract (cystitis, pyelitis, pyelone- phritis, urethritis, prostatitis, infected calculosis), respiratory tract infections, also involving the pleura (bronchitis, bronchial pneumonia, bacterial or mico- plasmatic pneumonia, pleuritis and emphysema); septicemia and septocopyemia, surgical infections (abscesses, phlegmon, post-operative infections), ENT, obstetric-gynaecologic infections, and burns.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adults: 80 mg every 8-12 hours; in particularly severe cases the daily dose may be increased up to 4-5 administrations.
Children: 3-5 mg/kg/day, divided into 2-3 administra- tions daily.
Premature of full-term neonates up to one week of age: due to the insufficient ability of elimination of these patients the daily dose should always be divided into two administrations.
SHELF-LIFE/STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS Shelf-life: 2 years.
