/Full Time Employment Opportunity Reporting to Director, Strategic Communications or Director, Corporate Affairs, the Communications Officer contributes to the development, planning, and implementation of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries’ corporate communication initiatives, as assigned by a Director. The incumbent is responsible for developing communications strategies and producing a variety of communications deliverables, as well as providing communications services to other parts of the organization. Duties: • Liaise with senior management, project team leaders, and other internal contacts, to develop strategies and plans to communicate targeted
messages to key stakeholder groups. • Undertake stakeholder analysis, and factor in timelines and resources to facilitate communications activities in an efficient and effective manner. • Identify communications risks/issues and opportunities, and modify communications activities as appropriate. • Lead each communication strategy’s execution and ensure related collateral materials are developed and delivered according to budget &
timelines. • Trouble-shoot and problem-solve to support communication activities, handle inquiries and complaints and resolve issues. • Produce and manage one (or more) of the division’s primary communications outputs: i.e. employee newsletter, social media account, corporate
or employee website, publicity function, bilingual services, annual report etc. • Gather information related to media inquiries and analyze potential issues, with recommendations for key messages and act as spokesperson,
and/or respond directly to media inquiries, as assigned by management. • Contribute to the content of all of the above through research, writing, editing, design, production, delivery and execution. • Create and post content on social media channels and monitor fan follower activity, including responding to inquiries when appropriate. • Attend corporate events as required. • Research, interview, write, edit, and produce a variety of communications deliverables, including articles, summaries, web content, letters, event
plans, presentations, speaking notes, etc. • Design and produce deliverables such as posters, brochures, inserts, web banners, booklets, etc. • Source appropriate photographs, images, and/or provide photography services when appropriate. • Encourage a climate that supports diversity. • Performs other duties as assigned. Primary Qualifications: • A degree or diploma in a recognized communications program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a communications role. • Competency in current Adobe Creative software, relevant to the communications profession. • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Experience or skills in desktop publishing, web content management and social media platforms. • Experience in developing communications strategies and projects. • Experience writing and producing a variety of communications materials. • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). • Continuous upgrading and learning is recommended to remain current in the profession. • The core competencies for this position include customer service, teamwork and cooperation, communication, self-development and initiative,
