It's rather funny. The dandelion flower is actually considered an amiable flower here in Japan. People express amicable words about it in novels and pop songs etc.
However, I think there are very few business executives and/or leaders who would embrace and nurture the Dandelion Principle. As some of you may already know, Japan (both the society and the corporate world) is very homogeneous and very reluctant to accept "people who rock the boat". This is because Japanese people value "harmony" and "stability" above all else.
I'm a lesser weed than a dandelion; but even dandelions would find it difficult to survive (let alone excel) in most Japanese organizations. They'll likely get wiped pretty quickly.
I myself have always accepted and embraced people who are innately different from me; both as a leader and a follower. True, when you have a mixed bag, facilitating and fostering teamwork can be challenging at times. But, the results far out weight all of that.
