Research distinguishes a wide variety of indicators for CSR programmes. Many recommendations tackle the issue of too narrow view of methods for measuring CSR in relation to corporate financial performance. Most research is based on single indicators, which increases the risk of classifying various, unrelated CSR actions and programmes within one group, which in turn makes obtained results imprecise (Entine 2003). The view indicating the need to put CSR activities together in heterogeneous groups of programmes has strong support in literature (Godfrey et al. 2009, Hillman and Keim 2001).
