Subject: Additional Counseling, Police After Tragic Weekend in Orlando
After a tragic weekend in Orlando, we offer our condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed and injured.
These acts of violence are senseless and disturbing, and during times like this we must come together as a community and care for one another.
At this time, we do not know yet if any of those killed or injured are UCF students or staff or faculty members. If you have any information about last night's attack at the Pulse night club, please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
If you are looking for a family member, please call the city's crisis hotline at 407-246-4357.
If you need somebody to talk to, counselors from UCF Counseling and Psychological Services and other support services will be available today from noon to 5 p.m. at the Student Union. Counselors also can be reached over the phone by calling 407-823-2811 and pressing 5.
UCF police will have a more visible presence on campus over the next few days, but no threats to campus have been made at this time.
Last night, UCF police officers and victim advocates responded to assist the Orlando Police Department, and the university stands ready to assist the city and victims however we can help.
As always, it is important to stay aware of your surroundings, and never be afraid to call for help if you see activity that seems suspicious. UCFPD can be reached 24/7 by calling 407-823-5555.
Right now, there is an urgent need for O negative, O positive and AB plasma blood donations to aid shooting victims. Please consider donating if you are able to, and visit www.oneblood.org to find the Donation Center or Big Red Bus closest to you.
In this time of sadness and confusion, we find strength in each other. Take care of yourself, look out for your friends, and tell your family members that you love them.
