Dear Sir,
Thank you for your message.
With reference to your inquiry, we inform you that according to the Swiss Parliament’s decision from September 29th, 2012, the Swiss representations abroad are not allowed anymore to accept any application for asylum since this date. The person who would like to apply for asylum must henceforth do it in person at the Swiss border or in Switzerland (article 9 of the Law to asylum; RS 142.31).
Due to the disastrous humanitarian situation in Syria, Switzerland has decided to admit up to three thousand persons who are duly registered as such from the Humanitarian Committee for Refugees (UNHCR) during the next three years. However, the UNHCR will be responsible for the selection of the candidates for this special program, not this Embassy. Therefore, please refer to your local UNHCR office.
