Process piping, equipment, risers and conductors, which are potential sources of hydrocarbon leaks, should be routed so as to minimise the likelihood of external impacts (e.g. from maintenance devices, ships, rigs etc.).
For gas systems, vents and relief valves have been routed to safe location, should the volumes to be vented capable to create a hazardous condition.
The accumulation of flammable gases shall be avoided by providing adequate ventilation.
Also the equipment have been arranged with a view to providing:
• minimal explosion overpressure in case of ignited gas release;
• prevention of serious consequences from dropped objects;
• planned simultaneous operations.
3.6 RISERS AND ESD VALVES LOCATION
Risers have been located to avoid damage, e.g. by fire, explosion, impact from dropped objects or ship collision.
Riser ESD Valves are located in easily accessible, open, well-ventilated areas, in order to avoid damage from wave impact and accidental events such as fire, explosion and mechanical impact.
3.7 SAFETY SYSTEMS LOCATION
Safety Systems and controls have been located such that they can remain operational during the defined accidental events. Controls for safety systems are located where they are accessible and available for safe, simultaneous use during an emergency.
The Emergency, UPS Systems and associated controls, etc., have been located such that they are not vulnerable to events that affect main power supply.
Field control panels and power sources for well control equipment, pipeline and riser ESD Valves are protected from accidental events, such as fire, explosion and mechanical impact, in order to ensure emergency operation of the system as necessary.
