At the end of the 3 weeks period, a plan of treatment is worked out with parents. This will involve the community services so that members of the community health team take part in the assessment of reach child.Following the conference a letter is sent to the parents setting out in simple language the problems faced by their child and agreed plan of management. To be able to read a summary of the discussions in which they have taken part, reinforces the understanding and allows for lapses of memory. One member of the tea should be named as the co-ordinator of on-going management and should be freely available to the parents in person or on telephone. This creates a more personal relationship for the parents in their contacts with the team. SchoolingHandicapped children can receive their education I either ordinary schools or in special schools. Special schools comprises those for the blind, the partially sighted, the deaf, those with partial hearing, the educational subnormal, the epileptic, the maladjusted, the physically handicapped, the delicate and those with speech defects. The advantage of an ordinary school is that it provides a full range of educational opportunity, whereas the special school limits the handicapped child`s contacts with his normal contemporaries.Probably the ideal schooling arrangement is the provision of one or more classes for the handicapped children attached to an ordinary school. By this means the child can receive special training and other techniques, such as physiotherapy, but also mix with normal children.
