Production facilities involved by hydrocarbon liquid presence have been covered by an Extinguishing Fixed Water/Foam Deluge System, the others have been covered by a Cooling Fixed Water Deluge System.
Firewater (seawater) is supplied by diesel driven pumps (one main and one stand-by), installed inside dedicated sump caissons on Platform, arranged to draw directly from the sea and discharge into a fixed fire main. Moreover, electric Jockey Pumps are provide to maintain pressure inside firewater network. Firefighting Pumps System has selected and installed according to NFPA 20.
Water Distribution System includes the ring network with disconnections for the several utilities.
The Foam System consists in a Foam Concentrate Accumulator and in a foam proportioner, suitable to reach the required foam solution. The system supplies Water/Foam solution to the Extinguishing Fixed Water/Foam Deluge Systems.
Fire Water System provides exposure protection, control of burning, and/or extinguishment of fires. The system includes coverage of Platform equipment, such as Wellheads, Separators, Compressors, etc. The Fire Water Pumping rate should be sufficient to perform all functions required by the fire control design.
6.4 CO2 SNUFFING SYSTEM
CO2 Snuffing System has been provided on Vent System according to API 521 Standard.
For details about system design, refer to P&ID Unit 34 – Vent System (HP Vent) and Cause & Effects Matrix.
6.5 PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION
Fireproofing is intended to protect structures, equipment and pipe racks against intense and prolonged heat exposure that could cause collapse of unprotected equipment and lead to the spread of burning liquids and substantial loss of property.
Fireproofing refers to the systematic process that provides a degree of fire resistance for protected substrates. The main objectives of fireproofing are to improve the capacity of equipment and its support structures to maintain their structural integrity during a fire and to shield essential operating systems when they are exposed to fire.
When properly implemented, Fireproofing System can help reduce losses and protect personnel and equipment by providing additional time to control a fire before thermal effects cause equipment or support failure.
Identification of structural elements, equipment and piping that need to be protected by application of passive fire protection shall be carried out according to Risk Analysis results.
Passive fire protection application shall be provided on NA/Q-PIII Platform in order to lower risk up to ALARP level.
