CSM (2003) report examined the issue of CSR in South Asian owned businesses operating in the UK. The study used qualitative interviews of 32 South Asian business owners and social enterprises in a variety of locations, including, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bradford, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leicester, London and Manchester. The research indicated that CSR is an important business issue among sample firms, irrespective of firm size, age, sector, location, primary purpose or legal status. Organisations also believed that being socially responsible could create value for them. The study also revealed that socially responsible manners had a positive effect on the workforce and also encouraged staff loyalty and commitment.
