Sub: Failure of T/Charger, Engine No. 11, KHD BV 8 M540 and Consequence damages at Saith Al-Kahirat Power Station Dhofar Governate.
With reference to the above subject we would like to draw your attention on the following points.
1. RAECO letter No Ref: 053/RAECO/OD/2015 Dated 26/03/2015 was sent to you but no action was taken.
2. Remainder letter No Ref: 062/RAECO/OD/2015 dated 08/04/2015 was sent to you but till date no action has been taken
3. The failure of the above T/Charger was occurred at 123,166 running hours, the last maintenance of Turbocharger was carried out at 108,574 running hours. Turbocharger has to be serviced every 8,000 running hours; it was overdue 5,592 hours for maintenance, which is the main cause of the turbocharger failure.
4. Turbocharger caught fire and affected the other KHD Engines as consequence damages of Electrical and Mechanical equipment, auxiliaries and building structure of the KHD Engine Hall.
CONCLUSION:
The failure is occurred due to maintenance flaw so the shortage of Power due to outage of the KHD Engines, which covered by Rental Power, and the cost of Rental Power and all cost of consequence damage shall be paid by your company as per the contract clause No (2.29) B & D Section (II) O&M Contract of Group “F” Power Stations T.No 129/2013.
