VISA wants to strength the security of file data transfer to Endpoints delivery and they introduced an approach to support the migration of VisaNet Direct Exchange endpoints to a secure file transfer protocol (FTP), and announced that it will stop its support of unencrypted FTP connections effective 30 September 2016.
Thus, Any VisaNet endpoint that uses unencrypted (or “plain”) FTP to exchange files with Visa via the Open File Delivery (OFD) service must migrate to a different, secure FTP by this date, The objectives form which this project is emanated.
