National Drilling Company (NDC) is one of the largest drilling contractors in the Middle East, providing its customers with quality drilling, work over and well maintenance services.
Established in 1972, NDC was the first venture among the ADNOC Group of Companies. Today, they operate a fleet of 10 offshore and 16 onshore drilling rigs, a Multi-Purpose Service Vessel, as well as five water well rigs surveying the ground water of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. NDC takes pride in a record of providing safe, healthy working conditions while protecting the environment and safeguarding assets
Requirements
NDC is one of the first companies in the UAE that have decided to adopt the IVMS for its large fleet of vehicles. Having set challenging HSE strategies, IVMS came in as a major necessity for the Road Safety of its drivers.
Solution
The Fleet Management system implemented on NDC vehicles, is the FM Locator, equipped with GPS and added to it the DECT solution that enables a wireless download of data. The FM Locator is a powerful Fleet Management device ,which connects to the wires of the vehicle, provides accurate readings obtained in the form of detailed reports.
Results
NDC has witnessed a major reduction in car accidents thanks to the FM Locator. NDC has even gone an extra mile, by implementing ‘Driver Monitoring Solution’ Software, which is integrated to the FM Locator solution and enables a scoring system to the drivers based on their driving behavior which is reflected in detailed reports. Using the DMS, NDC nominates the Top drivers of the month and rewards them financially. This tool had a direct impact on having the drivers follow the policies and has even played an essential role in keeping them well motivated and competing to achieve the best scoring.
In addition, NDC has decided to go further in implementing and maintaining the FM Locator, which has helped them in winning the ADNOC 2006 HSE Awards - ‘Improving Transport Safety Through IVMS’.
